Privacy Policy
This policy explains how CompReader handles information for parent accounts and child reading profiles.
Effective July 16, 2026
Who operates CompReader
CompReader is operated by Skaler Labs. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@compreader.com.
Information we collect
- Parent account information, including email address, sign-in method, and password credentials stored as a one-way salted hash when email/password sign-in is used.
- Child profile information provided by a parent: first name, reading level, interests, optional story sidekick, profile settings, and a one-way hashed kid code.
- Reading activity, including generated stories, quiz answers and scores, progress, rewards, stickers, moderation records, and usage counts.
- Subscription information from Stripe, such as customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, and billing-period dates. CompReader does not store full payment card numbers.
- Basic service logs and analytics used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the product.
- A parent's weekly-digest preference, saved time zone, and delivery status when the parent chooses to receive reading recaps.
How we use information
Information is used to authenticate parents, provide personalized stories at the selected reading level, run safety checks, score quizzes, show progress and rewards, enforce monthly plan limits, process subscriptions, prevent abuse, send parent-requested weekly reading recaps, and improve reliability.
AI story generation
To create and review a story, CompReader sends the selected topic, reading level, story preferences, and—when the parent enables hero personalization—the child's first name to AI service providers through Vercel's AI Gateway. Generated drafts and quiz content also pass through safety checks before display.
Service providers and disclosures
CompReader uses service providers to host and operate the product, including Amazon Web Services for data storage, Vercel for hosting and AI routing, Amazon Simple Email Service for parent-requested email delivery, Stripe for billing, Google for optional sign-in, and contracted AI model providers for story generation and safety review. Information is shared only as needed to provide those services or comply with law.
CompReader does not sell personal information, run behavioral advertising, or make child profiles public.
Retention and deletion
Account and reading information is kept while the account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service. Parents can delete a child profile and its associated reading records from the parent dashboard. Parents may request account access, correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@compreader.com. Limited billing, security, or legal records may be retained where required.
Security
CompReader uses access controls, encrypted network connections, scoped sessions, one-way password and kid-code hashes, and restricted cloud permissions. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
Parents control child profiles, hero personalization, interests, reading levels, rewards, and subscription status. Google sign-in is optional. Stripe subscriptions can be managed or canceled through the customer portal. Family plan parents can opt into or stop the weekly reading digest from Subscription or from the unsubscribe link in any recap.
